WASHINGTON (TNND) — American fast-food chain Steak ‘n Shake announced this week that the company would be waiving franchise fees for U.S. veterans.
“Steak ‘n Shake is not only waiving franchise fees for Veterans – it’s partnering with VA to expand outreach to Veterans so they can get the care and benefits they’ve earned!” Veterans Affairs Secretary Doug Collins wrote on the social media platform, X.
Attached to the post is a video of Collins with Indiana GOP Sen. Jim Banks at a Steak ’n Shake.
“What a perfect place to make a historic announcement,” Banks said in the video. “Steak ’n Shake in my opinion just cemented themselves as the most pro-veteran restaurant in America.
Banks said that aside from waiving fees so veterans can own and operate a franchise, they will also be hiring more veterans.
“Thank you Secretary Collins and Senator Banks,” the fast-food chain wrote on the social media platform, X. “We love our veterans and are proud to be able to support them. We appreciate all that President Trump is doing for our great country!”
Indiana GOP Rep. Marlin Stutzman also joined the VA secretary at the Steak ’n Shake in his home state.
“The @DeptVetAffairs and @SteaknShake just announced the start of an initiative that waives the $10,000 franchise start-up fee for veterans who want to run their own franchise!” he wrote on X. “I joined @SecVetAffairs on his second stop in northeast Indiana today as well as @SenatorBanks and @AGToddRokita to announce this fantastic initiative for veterans from our state and across the country.”
