Veterans History Project

Since its approval by Congress and the President in 2000, the Veterans History Project has collected more than 100,000 audio and video recordings from veterans sharing their personal experiences in military service. These submissions—ranging from World War I through Operations Iraqi Freedom and Enduring Freedom—are preserved as part of the Library of Congress collection.

The Veterans History Project documents and makes accessible firsthand interviews and narratives from United States military veterans from World War I to the present day. Senator Jim Banks invites Hoosier veterans to participate by taking part in a 30–60 minute recorded interview about their military service. Once completed, interviews will be archived and made publicly available through the Library of Congress.
