During the dinner, Sen. Banks remarked the steel industry was a big deal in the state of Indiana.
“Our state is home to a lot of your members’ facilities as well as numerous distributors, recyclers, and engineering firms. Your industry supports 192,000 Hoosier jobs and $56 billion of economic activity in the state. With these stats, it’s no surprise that the steel industry is the 3rd largest industry in our state. While the auto industry ranks 1st, we all know auto and steel are one in the same. The steel industry is an indispensable powerhouse for Indiana.”
